Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Mutemate (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Mutemate is a macOS application that provides:

• Global keyboard shortcut (⌘+Shift+M) to mute/unmute your microphone
• Status bar indicator showing current microphone mute status
• Local system integration with macOS audio controls

License and Usage

License Grant

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Mutemate on your macOS devices.

Usage Restrictions

You may not:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the App
• Distribute, sublicense, or transfer the App to third parties
• Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Remove or modify any copyright notices or other proprietary markings

System Requirements and Permissions

Requirements

• macOS 10.15 or later
• Microphone access permission (required for core functionality)

Permissions

The App requires:

• Microphone Access: To control mute/unmute functionality
• Accessibility Access: To register global keyboard shortcuts
• Menu Bar Access: To display status indicator

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Merchantability
• Fitness for a particular purpose
• Non-infringement
• Accuracy or completeness

WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE OPERATION OR AVAILABILITY OF MUTEMATE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. THE APP MAY NOT FUNCTION AS EXPECTED DUE TO SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS, SOFTWARE CONFLICTS, OR OTHER FACTORS BEYOND OUR CONTROL.

Important Usage Notice

MUTEMATE IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE IN CONFIDENTIAL OR HIGH-SECURITY ENVIRONMENTS. If you require guaranteed microphone control for confidential meetings, sensitive communications, or security-critical scenarios, please use alternative methods to ensure complete privacy and security. While Mutemate aims to provide reliable mute functionality, technical limitations or system conflicts may prevent proper operation in critical situations.

Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF USE, OR LOSS OF PROFITS.

User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Ensuring your system meets the minimum requirements
• Granting necessary permissions for the App to function
• Using the App in compliance with all applicable laws
• Maintaining the security of your device

Updates and Support

Updates

We may release updates to improve functionality, security, or compatibility. Updates are distributed through the Mac App Store.

Termination

These Terms remain in effect until terminated by either party. You may terminate by uninstalling the App. We may terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms.

Governing Law

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
