Mutemate (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our macOS application.
Mutemate is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Personal identification information
- Audio data or recordings
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Device information beyond what’s required for basic functionality
- Network activity or communication data
The only information Mutemate accesses is:
- Microphone Access: Required to control mute/unmute functionality. This is processed locally on your device and never transmitted or stored.
- System Preferences: Local settings for the application’s behavior, stored only on your device.
Any information accessed by Mutemate is used solely for:
- Controlling your microphone mute status
- Displaying mute status in the menu bar
- Maintaining your application preferences
Data Storage
- All data remains on your local device
- No data is transmitted to external servers
- No data is shared with third parties
- Application preferences are stored locally using macOS’s standard UserDefaults system
Third-Party Services
Mutemate does not integrate with any third-party services or analytics platforms.
Children’s Privacy
Mutemate does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.

Your Rights
As Mutemate processes all data locally on your device:
- You have complete control over your data
- You can delete all application data by uninstalling the app
- No data recovery is possible once the app is removed, as nothing is stored externally
